OUR STORIES:

Jo

Hi, I’m Jo, Office Manager at SBL Services. I’ve been part of the team for three years now, and one of the little perks I love is getting my birthday off work — it’s those small touches that make SBL feel like more than just a workplace. What drew me to SBL initially was the flexibility. As a busy mum, working school hours and term time allows me to give my best while I’m at work, and fully focus on my family when I’m not. That balance makes a huge difference and really shows the company values us as people, not just staff. I genuinely enjoy working with my colleagues. Being a family-run business, we have an open, collaborative way of working, where everyone’s ideas are welcomed. I also get to organise our nights out and team events, which is a lot of fun! SBL offers a great work-life balance while maintaining a culture where everyone strives to do their best — for each other and for our customers. It’s rewarding to be part of a team where support, growth, and enjoyment go hand-in-hand.

Callum

I’m Callum – I’m an Account Manager at SBL. I spend a lot of my time talking to our customers and visiting their businesses in order to better understand their operations, and better service their needs. This personal approach is something which I think sets SBL apart from our competitors and I really enjoy the challenge of problem solving and helping our customers overcome their challenges. That might mean identifying a part number for them, arranging a repair, sourcing a product, helping them out in an emergency or many, many other things! No day is quite the same. I hadn’t worked in the engineering industry before I started working here, but it’s a field I was always interested in so I’m grateful that SBL gave me the chance to learn and develop a lot of knowledge and skills over the past few years which I’m now able to use on a daily basis.

Jon

I’m Jon – I am responsible for our Marketing, Websites & Data. When I first joined SBL I found our industry quite confusing, as we serve such a wide range of customers with such a wide range of products. But what we do here is really very simple – ensure that local industry have quick & easy access to all the supplies they need to keep their operations running smoothly. The ways we do that are numerous, and the challenge of finding new and better ways of achieving that goal is a really interesting and exciting one. One of the benefits of working here for a growing company is that new ideas on how we can improve are always welcome – so if you’re somebody with a lot of initiative who likes finding solutions to problems, then working here will suit you!
